People with qualifying arrests and convictions may petition the court of their sentencing county for an expungement of their records. Below are the procedures for filing an expungement as well as the required forms. Besides providing procedures and forms, the Circuit Clerk's Office is prohibited from giving any legal advice. 

Please note that the clerk will not be able to determine your eligibility for expungement.

The Illinois Supreme Court also offers forms and instructional information for the expungement process.  Forms and additional information information regarding expungements  including how to determine eligibility can be found at  www.illinois.gov/osad. In addition qualifying individuals may also contact Prairie State Legal Services for assistance.
